 To Search for Crime Statistics:

You can go to the link below (the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation) where all agencies that participate file their monthly crime statistics. Everyone that participates in the nationwide FBI UCR program (Uniform Crime Reporting) adheres to the same standards of reporting so that you can compare county to county, city to city, etc., without fear that someone is classifying crimes differently.

Each agency files their statistics with their State who in turns sends the Statewide data to the national FBI UCR collection agency. This is where the national crime rates come from! (Can you tell I've been doing crime stats for several local agencies for 25+ years???!!!).

Go to this site and choose the "Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) shortcut in the white box on the left.

http://www.ncsbi.gov/crimestatistics/crimestatistics.jsp

Choose the year and then scroll down and choose the selection called "2005 Annual Summary Report" or the selection called "Index Offenses in County Order, 2005-2006".

Thank you Jeanne Fort for this link.
